MGB Acting Assistant Director Atty. Danilo Uykieng and MIMAROPA Regional Director Roland de Jesus open the three-day capability training-seminar of embedded personnel in PENRO/CENROs.
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MIMAROPA Region played host to this year’s Capability Training-Seminar for MGB Embedded Personnel at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) PENRO/CENRO (Luzon Cluster), May 28-30, at the Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila.
Around 60 MGB mining engineers and geologists participated in this undertaking which seeks to continuously capacitate the agency’s embedded personnel, and ensure continuity in the implementation of priority thrusts and programs of DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu and the Bureau.
This three-day activity focused on discussions concerning mining tenement; mine safety, environment, and social development; small-scale mining; mineral processing; geology and geohazard mapping; and law enforcement.
Among the issues raised were the scope of embedded personnel’s responsibilities when it comes to the conduct of investigation and apprehension; the investigation procedure on addressing verbal complaints; and their concerns on compensation and possible regular employment through the addition of plantilla positions.
The capability training-seminar for the Mindanao cluster was held on May 14-16 in Davao City, while the Visayas cluster will convene on June 25-27 in Tacloban City.
