In response to the objective of professionalizing and continuously capacitating government employees involved in procurement processes, personnel from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MIMAROPA Region successfully completed the Certified Public Procurement Specialist Course from April 22-30, 2019, at the Palawan State University.

MGB MIMAROPA Region’s chief accounting officer and members of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Secretariat secured Public Procurement Specialist Level 1 Certification under the said program’s Batch 13.

Spearheaded by the Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO) in collaboration with the University of the Philippines (UP)-National Engineering Center, this undertaking is pursuant to Republic Act 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act, and its 2016 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations, which provide for the proper implementation of public procurement systems and procedures by procuring entities.

Started in 2017, this GPPB-TSO and UP initiative seeks to ensure the proper utilization of government funds through capacitating public procurement practitioners such as BAC members, secretariat, and technical working groups of procuring entities; and other government procurement officers and employees directly or indirectly involved in public procurement, including private suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
