The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MIMAROPA Region participated in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – MGB Virtual Forum: “Understanding Laws, Rules and Regulations Related to Gender and Development for Mining Stakeholders and MGB Employees,” August 17, 18, and 20 via the Zoom platform.
The said activity focused on Republic Act No. 9710 or Magna Carta of Women, and other laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to gender and development (GAD) as discussed by independent GAD specialists Dr. Ferdinand Gonzales and Ms. Vichel Rse Juguilon-Pangan.
Participants were also oriented about the use of gender-fair language; several laws covering gender-based violence; basic concepts of GAD, and the sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sexual characteristics also referred to as SOGIESC; and gender mainstreaming in the Philippines, among others.
