The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) MIMAROPA Region, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) MIMAROPA Region, Environmental Management Bureau MIMAROPA Region, and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office – Romblon, spearheaded the Capacity Building cum information, education, and communication activity for Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Province of Romblon, August 15, at the DENR MIMAROPA Conference Room.

This hybrid activity, participated by LGU officials from the municipalities of Cajidiocan, Magdiwang, and San Fernando, aimed to address the issues and concerns on mining activities in Sibuyan Island in the Province of Romblon.

It also sought to help local officials further understand and enforce environment-related measures, as well as pertinent laws, rules, and regulations on mining and quarry projects; the major requirements and activities for every stage of mining pursuant to Republic Act No. 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act; and the environmental laws on the protection and conservation of biological diversity and ecosystems.
